Coach Howard is an alumnus of Ridge View High School and has been coaching for approximately 20 years, including 8 years as a varsity coach. He has been with Ridge View as Head Football Coach since 2021. Coach Howard graduated from Morehouse College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and was a four-year letterman. Although he was recruited as a quarterback, he was a three-year starting running back at Morehouse. Both Coach Howard and his wife work at Ridge View, where they were crowned Homecoming King and Queen in 1998.

As the head football coach at Ridge View High School, Coach Howard has established himself as a respected figure in South Carolina high school athletics, both for his knowledge of the game and his unwavering commitment to the growth of young men.

Since taking the helm, Coach Howard has worked tirelessly to elevate Ridge View Football into a competitive and disciplined program. His vision, built on toughness, preparation, and unity, has laid a strong foundation for success on the field. Yet, what truly sets Coach Howard apart is his belief that football is a vehicle, not just for victory, but for molding character.

Coach Howard's impact extends well beyond the scoreboard.

He is a deeply committed mentor who believes in developing the whole athlete. Under his leadership, players are not only expected to excel in their positions but also to grow as men of principle, accountability, and humility. Through daily practices, team meetings, and one-on-one mentorship, Coach Howard instills life skills that will serve his players long after their final whistle:  discipline, resilience, leadership, and a relentless work ethic.

Known for building strong relationships with his players, Coach Howard often acts as a guide through life’s challenges, teaching his athletes how to navigate adversity with strength and character. Many of his players have gone on to compete at the collegiate level, but perhaps more importantly, they leave Ridge View prepared to be dependable sons, brothers, professionals, and leaders.
