Ridge View High School proudly welcomes Aaron Lucas as the new Head Coach of the Girls Basketball Program. A Columbia native and former standout at the University of South Carolina, Coach Lucas brings a deep passion for the game, a wealth of experience, and a proven track record of success in developing young student-athletes.
Coach Lucas joins the Blazers after six successful seasons as the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Lower Richland High School, where he built one of the most respected programs in the State of South Carolina. Under his leadership, the Diamond Hornets captured three region championships, made five consecutive playoff appearances, and reached the state semifinals twice. His teams were known for their discipline, defensive tenacity, and unselfish style of play.
As a Gamecock from 1998 to 2002, Lucas was a standout point guard known for his court leadership, grit, and high basketball IQ. After college, he continued his career professionally overseas, gaining valuable experience that has helped shape his coaching philosophy.
“Coach Lucas is focused on continuing to build a championship-caliber program grounded in hard work, accountability, and teamwork,” said Dr. Brenda Mack, Ridge View Principal. “He is equally committed to fostering academic success and personal growth in every player, preparing them for life beyond the hardwood. We’re excited for him to build on the legacy of great Ridge View Girls Basketball!”

There will be a meeting for all girls and boys interested in playing basketball at Ridge View this Wednesday, May 14th at 6:30pm in the Main Gym.
Coach Lucas is married, and he and wife have two sons.
